The end of March
1:30 AM Edit This 4 Comments »The end of march is drawing near. Time flies by when you're having fun, or not. Whether you're homesick, or you're loving your new place and friends, it just flies by. Next thing you know, March is ending and this blog has been filled with not just cobwebs but various viagra ads generally known as SPAM.
Anyway, I am glad to say that I've pretty much settled in. I'm here to study, thus study I do. I go to the faculty every week for the study group, meet my sv every two weeks and discuss my submissions and go to the library once in a while to borrow books. I don't study at the library because its always crowded with hyper young people with no intention to actually study. So most of the time I'm in my room, reading deep into the night or most of the time, into the morning. So far, I'm making progress with my research and I'm pretty happy.
Thats my main supervisor's book. My main reference for now. Brilliant bloke btw.
My main read before I go to bed. Which makes me have weird research nightmares all the time. Imagine dreaming about methodology in black and white. I know, I can't comprehend any of that either. Maybe I should read something lighter before bed.
This is where I have my study group sessions. Relaxed atmosphere, a cup of tea and long hours of discussion. Too long sometimes.sigh.
But I don't just study of course. I spend time chilling out with my new friends. They are an awesome bunch of people, easy, carefree and young. Oh, how very, very young. 18,19, 20!. In my postgrad study group, I'm the youngest by far. I feel so inexperienced and childish when I'm with them, especially those with two/three masters and 30 years work experience but with my friends, I feel ancient. I know the realities of working life and the rat race out there while they are having insane crushes on diamond skinned vampires.
Since I've left all my brothers at home, I've adopted a new one. Introducing my new little brother here, Aqil. He is extremely hyper and loves to burp. Thank you.
The one playing doodle jump is Syabil. He is a great cook. The couple on his right is Azura and Faiz. Azura is taking her LLM here so at least I have some mature stuff to talk about with someone sometimes.
These are the two e/izzahs. Izzah is really pandai. Eza is pandai too and is just the correct height that I can comfortably rest my arms on her shoulders (which I love to do) which makes her my fav.
Whatever it is, I often yearn for the company of those my age. Where we quarter-century old girls would moan about how much marriage costs these days or discuss the merits of changing jobs when you're still young. When I go out shopping, I wanna notice a cute 'man' together, not some acne ridden teen who happens to look like taylor f***ing werewolf. When I hang out with the older crowd, I cringe when they talk about their children marrying, or how to take a second mortgage on your house. An invitation to play golf is also not anywhere near my list of interesting things. So yeah, I really miss my friends back home sometimes. Like really.
Happy Birthday to Zakiah! I really miss you guys here, more than you can possibly guess. Please la download skype and borak with me!

I also like to go to town, with or without company. I like to browse through the pretty tops at DP or pick out a new thing at bodyshop. I don't often buy stuff (cam tipu je kan) unless there's a really good bargain (which there often is).
For the next post, I'm going to put up pictures of the pretty flowers currently blooming by the hundreds here in campus. I might also put up pictures of bunnies and cute duckies before they all disappear. I also want to put up pictures of me having a great time shopping (scholarship baru masuk..woohoo!) but lets not get too ambitious here as I do not know when I have time to do a new post.
