Its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
1:16 AM Edit This 0 Comments »Today is the last day of the academic term. Everyone except the postgraduates will be leaving for their summer holidays. Cars, parents, kids and luggage are everywhere. They all look pretty happy but some can be seen crying as they hug their friends goodbye. Some look completely stressed out. After all, packing and checking out of the accommodation is a quite a complicated process.
A few hours ago, I sat outside with my french friends, Agathe and Lissie (both leaving tmrw), and observed all the drama. We laughed at the sight of parents trying to stuff their medium sized cars with huge duvets and boxes of books. We gasped at the rubbish pile, which now resembled a mountain, and pitied the cleaners who will have to clear everything up by tomorrow. We said hello to all the familiar faces and wished them all a good summer.
We stayed and watched until all the cars have gone. Just like that, it was over. Freshers for them, and one term for me. After hugging my friends goodbye, I went up to my room to finish packing. Outside, the blasting wind makes the trees shiver, shake and moan. A couple of rabbits were having a late evening snack under the trees so I threw them a couple of cherries which they gobbled up in record time. In the distance, I can see naked sheep grazing desolately, probably wondering the same thing as everyone: where is that damn summer weather? The cold seems to last forever!
It feels kinda sad to leave my room in Tyler Court (I have to move out tomorrow to Darwin College for the summer). This place has been my sanctuary for 5 months and I will definitely miss everything about it, even the sickly orange walls and horrid blue carpets. Many, many fond memories I have of this room and my flat.
Anyway, enough depressing moments for today I guess. Life must go on, especially for those who are staying for the summer, no? Theres research to be done, bags to be packed and a room to be moved into. And all that ain't gonna be done by itself, thats for certain.
So take care everyone and have a wonderful weekend ahead!
